I am a Senior Research Data Scientist at Monash Institute of Railway Technology, Monash University. Before that I worked as an AI and Data Science Research Fellow at the Monash Data Futures Institute, Monash University, where I worked with a set of leading cross-disciplinary experts to enhance health sciences, governance and policy and sustainable development using data-driven AI. I completed my doctoral research at Swinburne University of Technology and I hold a B.Sc. Hons degree in Information Technology from University of Moratuwa (Sri Lanka). From 2015 to 2018, I worked as a Senior Software Engineer at 99X Technology (Sri Lanka).

My research interests are Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Data analytics at cloud and edge, Cloud computing, Machine learning

Senior Research Data Scientist

Institute of Railway Technology, Monash University

Undertaking research and development of new and innovative software applications and systems related to big data modelling, storage, analysis and reporting of railway infrastructure

Supporting all facets of AI-based software application and system development including requirements gathering from industry partners, acquiring data from IoT devices, developing databases, conducting exploratory data analysis, building and evaluating machine learning models and implementing web-based dashboards for visualizations

Providing specialised applied research advice and solutions to complex situations including consultation with senior managers, academics and professional staff and developing proposals and strategies for AI-based software design activities

Designing, implementing and productionising machine-learning models as part of AI-based software applications and systems to meet industry partner needs

Worked with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and Institute AI engineers to deploy machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to solve client-based business and research challenges

Oversaw client development and proposal development efforts and take ownership of client project deliverables
